J. K. Rowling meets Laura Ingalls Wilder???
Posted by: Cindy Dobrez and Lynn Rutan

Cindy: The advance reader copy of Patricia Wrede’s new book, The Thirteenth Child (Scholastic, April 2009), arrived in a package yesterday with a publisher note that included this statement:

“With wit and wonder, Patricia Wrede creates an alternate history of westward expansion that will delight fans of both J. K. Rowling and Laura Ingalls Wilder.”

I am fascinated by the premise and being a fan of Rowling, Wilder, and Wrede am eager to read the book, but handed it off to my secretary who is a Little House fanatic. She took it home to read first and reports today that her husband heard the premise and wanted to know if the book was called, Little Harry on the Prairie? Stay tuned for more once we’ve read it.

I’m a huge Wrede fan from way back so was very excited to receive
this yesterday. It rose immediately to the
    take-with-me-to-read-right-away stack.

My 8 yr old daughter just finished reading Little House on the Prairie and loved it! I will have to get this book for her. Anymore suggestions?
