Sequel Heaven
Posted by: Cindy Dobrez and Lynn Rutan

behemothLynn: I love this job!  I get paid to read and right now you should see the books on the top of my to-read stack.  I am in sequel heaven!  There are so many awesome books that I couldn’t chose between them so I closed my eyes, mixed them up, made a stack and am blissfully working my way through them.  How awesome is that?  So far everything is wonderful and I’m having a glorious time.  We’ll be blogging some of these soon.

Just Finished:

The Ring of Solomon (Hyperion Nov. 2010) by Jonathan Stroud

The Lost Hero (Hyperion 2010) by Rick Riordan

Currently reading:

Behemoth (S&S/Simon Pulse) by Scott Westerfeld

Next Up:

Sapphique (Penguin/Dial 2010) by Catherine Fisher

The Curse of the Wendigo (S&S 2010) by Rick Yancey

Forge (S&S/Atheneum 2010) by Laurie Halse Anderson

The White Horse Trick (Harper/Greenwillow 2010) by Kate Thompson

Truly friends – life is good.

conspiracy-of-kingsCindy: Lynn is right. The year started off with a sequel to my favorite series on the planet, Megan Whalen Turner’s Eugenides Thief series, with the equally brilliant A Conspiracy of Kings and the rest of the year has continued to provide sequels to series I love:

Monsters of Men (Candlewick 2010) by Patrick Ness

Mockingjay (Scholastic 2010) by Suzanne Collins

And, I had strict orders from my secretary to either show up with Jeff Kinney’s new Diary of a Wimpy Kid sequel, The Ugly Truth (Amulet 2010), today or not show up at all. I stopped and bought some on the way to school this morning…anything to keep my wonderful secretaries happy! :) Oh, and my middle schoolers, too, of course!

I’m currently reading The Ring of Solomon and hope this means that Jonathan Stroud has found a way to continue to bring us Bartimaeus stories…I just love old Bart and he is not disappointing me in this installment either. Lynn is right, life is good.
