Conference Glow

San Diego should be the permanent home for ALA Midwinter Meetings!
Want great attendance at your meeting? Appoint Neil Gaiman to the committee and then get extra chairs!
Pedometers should be issued to all conference attendees – well, maybe not. We may not want to know how many miles we walked.
An enterprising vendor could make a fortune selling coffee to everyone waiting for the doors to open for the Youth Media Awards. We got up HOW early to get a seat?
Upper-body exercises important? Just haul bags and bags of exhibit-hall loot for several days!
Did Cindy really take 7 pairs of black shoes for 5 days?
Sleep – what’s that?
Did Lynn really escape an overweight fee on that luggage bulging with ARCs?

We miss the French Bistro near our hotel already!
There is nothing better for recharging than hearing great speakers, watching dedicated committees in action and connecting with amazing librarians. We are ready to get back to work!

Then there are those two-who-will-remain-nameless-but-one-is-a-Bookend who kept the other Bookend from hearing the Notables discussion due to their incessant whispering about the discussion. We should hang our heads in shame:)

I can’t wait to hear about your ARC picks. I send some back from the conference floor post office and they made it home before me!
Yes, yes, yes, all Midwinters should be in San Diego

Our boxes are supposed to arrive Friday and I can’t wait. I did carry as many as I could and I’m dithering about what to read first!

I know! My head IS bowed in shame but it is SO hard not to discuss the books with a (nameless) friend you haven’t seen in 6 months! – Lynn

Ditto to all those sentiments! And Lynn, it was wonderful to meet you – I’m looking forward to a wonderful year of reading and discussing.

I so wanted to be there. While you want every mid-winter in San Diego, I want every summer conference here in DC – so I can go!
