Bookends Is On Spring Break
Posted by: Cindy Dobrez and Lynn Rutan

spring-breakCindy: By the time you read this, I’ll be sitting in one of these chairs in Key West (hopefully one outside on the deck) reading through my pile of books…if I’m not out walking the beach or town. I’ll be celebrating the locale of Jennifer Holm’s Newbery Honor winning Turtle in Paradise and I have Meg Cabot’s new book, Abandon, packed since it is also set in the Florida keys. With a 28-hour drive each way ahead of me, I have a full bag of books and audio books packed and promise to return from vacation ready to share the news about lots of new titles. If you’ve read something you think I should add to the pile, leave a comment. Or, if you are packing for vacation, tell us what’s in your suitcase to read…you know reading is an obsession if I am willing to jettison another pair of sandals for an extra book or two! ;)

Lynn: That deck looks so awesome!  Our destination is a trifle less glamorous but we’re excited just the same.  We’re planning three days in the Windy City to do some grandparent/grandson bonding.  We have our museum passes printed and I am eschewing glamor for my most comfortable walking shoes as the focus group brings new meaning to the word fanatic.  If there is an exhibit to be viewed or a sight to be seen they want to see it.  The Science and Industry Museum, the Shedd Aquarium, the Planetarium, the Sky Deck and the Lincoln Park Zoo are on our list for this trip.  Hmmm – there is a reason their parents are sending them off so willingly with us – foot preservation!

We too have books packed for the car and for the room – if we’re ever in our room!  I’m counting on the trip home at least being quiet – wait that person snoring will probably be me!

Have fun you two…I am staying here in thunder, lightning and snowy Charlevoix but I too have a stack of books that would take me several spring breaks to read…my list is topped by Trash, Death Cloud and The Dreamer…
