L. A. Times Festival of Books – What Would YOU Ask?
Posted by: Cindy Dobrez and Lynn Rutan

bookprizeslogoCindy: I’m currently serving a two-year appointment as a judge for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize (Young Adult Literature Jury) and will be attending the Awards Ceremony on April 29th in Los Angeles where the winners are announced. I was thrilled to learn that all six of our finalists will be in town for the event and I am hoping to also meet up with some Bookends readers at the two day Festival of Books. I’ve been given the honor of chairing a panel called “Worlds Beyond Imagination” on Saturday with three of our YA finalists: Jonathan Stroud (The Ring of Solomon), Megan Whalen Turner (A Conspiracy of Kings), and Rick Yancey (The Curse of the Wendigo). As I work on my list of questions to ask the panel I thought it would be fun to see what our Bookends readers would want to ask these authors or the whole panel…so…suggest away. And do come say hello if you are at the festival. This presentation is at 12:30 and at 2 p.m. there is another panel with our other finalists (Marc Aronson, Marina Budhos, Stephanie Hemphill) and Cynthia Kadohata called Bring out the Story in HiSTORY. It should be a great weekend (and as a bonus I can escape the snow we are having here in Michigan!)

Can’t think of any questions at the moment, but I look forward to it! I just printed my tickets for both of those panels.

I hope we have gorgeous weather for your stay, too:)
